Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and under most circumstances, information shared in the course of therapy cannot be disclosed to others without written permission.
There are a few exceptions which are mandated by law. These include:
-
Suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse, which I am required to immediately report to appropriate authorities.
-
Client threats of serious bodily harm to another person or persons, which I am required to report to police and to the intended victim.
-
Client intent to self-harm, which requires me to make every effort to ensure client safety.
Please bring any questions you might have regarding the above. These and other issues related to the exceptions to confidentiality and privacy will be discussed at the first therapy session.
